Description
Drochlá Ruairí
The Irish-language CD-ROM Drochlá Ruairí (“Ruairí’s Bad Day”) is based on the popular children’s book of the same name by Colmán Ó Raghallaigh.
Drochlá Ruairí includes the text of the story arranged in your choice of three major dialects, read by native speakers, and the original illustrations by Anne Marie O’Carroll are fully animated. There are games, exercises, pictures to colour, and more on the CD-ROM as well. Children will be delighted with such a modern presentation of Irish, and both young and old will get enjoyment and benefit from it. The CD-ROM is aimed primarily at children in the middle classes, depending on their ability in the language.
If you’ve liked Drochlá Ruairí, you might be interested in the second CD-ROM in the series, Ruairí sa Zú. And keep an eye out, because the third title in the series is on the way — Ruairí san Óspidéal! It should be available in the spring (2014).
“The disk is good fun to use and will be particularly useful to Irish-speaking children aged four to eight. People learning Irish at any age could also enjoy it. It is also great to see a high-quality children’s CD-Rom being produced in Irish. May there be many more of them.”
